Epipal works by grouping your epilepsy care team into an Epipal family. Everyone in the Epipal family will receive emergency alerts, receive medication reminders, and have access to view and edit the collaborative epilepsy journal. For Epipal to work the best for you and your family everyone in your Epipal family should install Epipal and sign in.
Backed by years of research Epipal's Seizure Detection algorithm runs in the background on everyday smartphones (iOS & Android) and their respective watches (Apple Watches & wearOS Watches). Epipal's seizure detection is trained to pick up on motion related seizures such as tonic-clonic seizures. Epipal also offers potential detection for non-motion related seizures, see How Heart Rate Alerts Work.

If a watch is connected Epipal will run in the background continuously checking for heart rate fluctuations which correlate with seizures.
